Description
Colorized photo from 1913, Nov 11
Original Title: Cleveland storm damage
Location: Collinwood, Cleveland, Ohio
The formula for comedy is: Tragedy plus Time. And this is pretty funny.
There was a huge blizzard where the winds clocked at 80mph for a full minute. And it just tore this wall off. I think the wall was sticking up past the roof line, like a false front building, and the wind caught it.
I'm not sure why people in the past were stupider than they are now, maybe they are the same amount stupid, putting themselves in harms way just to get the shot. But I mean come on... there is a broken wall just feet from them, any of that could collapse, as long as I get in the paper, that's all that matters.
For colors, I wanted the rooms to pop out. So I gave them each a sort of pink to yellow, girly colors. (This is a hotel, still though each room is different for some reason). The outside colors I wanted more earth tone and muted, so the inside stands out better.
I couldn't find the location of this place. While the town was small, I couldn't find it. I know its near the lake and a train. The town was Collinwood (according to the hotel window)
Editing this, the tone as you can see is very flat. Very little contrast. I assume this is partly due to it being a cloudy day, with a lot of snow, and it just averaged out as very dull. Looking at it up close, I saw white lines, someone trying giving this accents.
