Description
Colorized photo from 1900
Original Title: Mulberry St., New York, NY
Location: Mulberry St, looking toward Canal St
This is Little Italy, in NY on the East Side. A place where many of the Italian immigrants came to live and work. They shared their food, culture and colors with us. Selling was a community event, they socialized in the street. Food was fresh and eaten fresh due to the lack of refrigeration.
Presently, this exact location is now a part of Chinatown. One block away, starting at Canal St, is where Little Italy now begins. This particular block, most of the buildings are still intact, with exception to those pretty balconies, most of which had wooden floors for some reason.

SUPERB imagery; the amount of details is incredible and the scene looks like it is coming to life the more you stare at it. What an outstanding image.

Spectacular. I just love the scenes you find and your work bringing them to life. This one should definitely be printed big so all the great details can be fully appreciated. Just look at the expressions on the foreground people - especially the kids on our left. Priceless.
