Original Title: A characteristic sidewalk newsstand
Location: 6th Ave. on the corner of 23rd St. New York, NY
1875 is when New York created their "El" (elevated) train line. This train was in use until at least 1938. In between this time, newsstands like this one popped up underneath these metal stairs.
Each one sold a number of periodicals, many of them weekly editions. There was art and newspapers also being sold here. The newsies on the end could help you with the paper.
You can still find some of these magazines in print today.
