While it hardly matters, I couldn't decide if that's a boy or a girl in that chair. I thought it was a boy, but the outfit makes me think its really a girl, I guess it will be a mystery, though it does look like a dress and uniform.
In the days before lighting (this was during the war I think, I guess they didn't have power), they relied on sunlight. If there was a cloud, there was a problem. I suppose they could have used candles to light your mouth up.
The drill was more exciting though, as it was foot powered. A dentist would stomp on the treadle, making it spin, while keeping balance, while drilling your teeth in spurts... That must have been so much fun back then.
