Original Title: Firemen spraying burning building on 14th st
Location: Next door to the Pratt Institute on 155 west, 14th St, NY
Surprise! It's a big old fire, the pressure trucks arrived and they are putting the fire out with long extensions. This fire took place on December 20th, so it was probably a bit chilly.
Fire hoses ran up the building next door, to get a better vantage. Despite there being a huge raging fire next door, the citizens didn't seem at all concerned. People standing on the ledge asking if they should go down or not. People standing around on a sidewalk, even though there is debris from above.
You see people back then were tougher, they would look out the window or climb out a tall ledge just to get a better view of what's going on. Never mind the danger of their own building catching fire. Even the firemen stand in front of this building seemingly just milling about.

Its interesting when an old photo is colorized -- more detail emerges that viewer's eye might have missed. Nicely realized.
