I think its pretty cool that this library still exists, that's where I got the colors from. I'm thinking the colors were very much the same when it was first built. I kept all the same colors except for the doors, which showed a natural grain and the floors.
The levels where the books were stored was probably a white, beige or pink color. Today those floors are black for some reason. The floor lower floor that is wood, is currently carpeted. They removed the card catalog, table and display cabinet, the railing and fancy lamps in the current version of this place.
This room is lit with church like side lights (you'll notice the hidden crosses as well). There are also large skylights, and very small light bulbs. It must have been very dim at night. I think this place was designed by a minister.
Coloring the books wasn't hard, its mostly a random array of earth tones, what made it a pain was all those rails and lights. There was also a lot of detail on the ends, various shades of brass and beige colors, each one taken from a photo someone took of this location. All the colors were copied faithfully except a minor pink trim.
There was enough detail in the highlights that you can see the frosted pattern in the lights. As a side note, I don't think the main lights were on, but I like the theatrics of it.
