What grabbed my attention were those guys socks.
Anyway, I used earth tones because I want the eyes to go onto the smoke, and not the people, I wanted eyes to be on the cameramen mostly.
Metrotone, was a company that made the Newreels for feature films. They were in business for 75 years or so. Despite that, I could not find one bit of evidence they existed logo wise. I found their movies, but couldn't find anything concrete on what their logo or trucks looked like. So I chose an olive drab, because in those days I don't think they needed the advertisement, and would have had a duller tone.
The real year when this was shot is a little confusing. The image said it was taken 1920-23. However another site said that the truck is a 1929 Reo Speedwagon. On that same site, they marked it at 1928. And to add to the confusion, there was an article about the use of fire systems in hangars, set up just like this one, in 1930. So it was taken before 1930, and it may have been this very test.
