Description
This is the Allis engine, its a vertical triple expansion engine. It stands 3 stories tall, with an additional 2 stories in the basement. Built in 1898, designed vertically to lessen the wear and tear on parts. It ran slowly, but did the job well. It was designed to last a long time, and it certainly did, they stopped using it in 1974. It was capable of moving 30 million gallons of water a day, on only 800 horsepower.
