Colorized photo from 1939
Original title: Cafe and Grocery store
Photographer: Russel Lee
Location: Robstown, TX
Robstown is a small town in Texas, named after a guy named Rob (no, really). The town is small, and this cafe has all the looks of a small town. People gathered speaking, food ready to eat. I'm a bit confused why there is a few wheels of cheese there, and sausages in the window. With all that dirt out there, it would certainly be coated.
I chose a tan color for their skin, the midtones didn't brighten as they would for a white person. The sign colors came from actual signs. Hippo Size (near the sitter), is not a size, but a soda brand local to this area. I chose a blue for the main building, but wanted it to look really worn out. Same with the tin town next door, adding touches of rust.
