Description
Colorized photo from 1943
Original title: Union Station train concourse
Photographer: Jack Delano
Location: 225 South Canal Street Chicago, IL
The original had a lot of wide angle distortion looking up. I just didn't like the slant of the supports, so I straightened that. (You can't see it in here because I saved over the original). I had quite a bit of trouble locating some of these flags. Luckily they were labeled what they were. Not lucky that the words were blurred in some spots, but lucky again because there were more views of this station. Also all the flags are backwards.
What I couldn't find was the propaganda posters, none of them. So I made the colors up on them. I'm probably off by a bit, but what are you going to do?
This was probably shot in the winter, everyone has a jacket. I used duller colors as they wore in those days.
This building doesn't exist, not this part anyway, they removed it in 1970 to make room for office space.
