Original Title: Boston & Maine RR Depot
Location: Salem, Ma, Riley Plaza, Washington & Norman St.
When I first saw this, I thought it was England, that lady in the long dress, carriage and castle. But it was Salem, Massachusetts of all place.
This place was designed by a guy that didn't know what a train station should look like. Designed in the mid 1850s or so. He liked the castles in England (a place he was to recently), he made it look like a castle.
Can you imagine how terrible it was to live in this era? People think it would be fun to be there, but can you imagine your heel getting stuck between stones, or slipping on horse poop...? Then there is that train, nothing but a sign overhead warning of your impending doom.
But I suppose its something you get used too.
Anyway, On the left you'll see Cream Bread, I haven't a clue what that stuff is. But the wagon is neat looking. I cloned the over head wires out, they were distracting. There is very little info about this building, someone made a model of it, and I got info from him. The building was taken down, and the rock was reused to line the near by river.
