The eternal flame is a symbolic reference for a miracle that occurred a long time ago. Different religions have different meanings.
Judaism for example, During the times of the ancient Maccabees, while they rebelled to reclaim the Temple of Jerusalem, they only had enough oil to last one day for their lamp. But they said a miracle occurred and instead of one day, the oil some how lasted for eight. Maybe it was a miracle, maybe it was just proper oil management. In any case it where Hanukah came from.
The Christians also have their own version. They believe that the ever lasting flame represents Christ. As it always burns in a sin-darkened world. In churches these alter lamps are often colored red, as not to confuse people from votive candles or other candles.
My name is Mike Savad, I create one of a kind images. Photo realistic, is what people think of first. I specialize in job themes, such as Pharmacist, Doctor, Firemen, Lawyer, etc. Steampunk is another favorite. I'm certain you will find something that you will like. My art is inspired by Norman Rockwell and Paintings from the time of the Renaissance. Be sure to visit my Scene in Color section. I expertly restore and colorize black and white images. See the past come alive with color. Each image is painstakingly cleaned and repaired, colors are researched and shaded in. Images are designed to coordinate with the rest of my collection. The past was far more colorful than you would have imagined. Want something fun to do? Sometimes I hide...
