Description
Colorized photo from 1944 (or so)
Location: Fort Hood Texas
Original Title: Soldier unfolding Garrison flags at Fort Hood, Texas
This gigantic flag is known as a garrison flag, or often called the Star Spangled Banner. It's used on special occasions, and due to his huge size, it must quite difficult get it up there. Originally they made the flag this huge so the enemy would have no problems seeing it. This way they would attack the fort, and not the town.
