The perspective in this room drove me nuts. I want to keep everything straight and yet it has a sort of deep room illusion. Like it was a drawing assignment. But the room is the room I guess, as long as the walls are straight.
There are a ton of mirrors, barbershops need lots of mirrors, but add gas lamps to that and you need a lot of light. So there are reflections of every part of the room at crazy angles, and remembering to color in the reflections became tedious. Every mirror has the other side of the room and one has the outside, or a reflection of a reflection of the outside. Because the mirror had it proper direction.
I can't imagine why there are so many pipes there. Normally people smoke a cigar, not pipes so much. And being a barber, can you imagine getting a single hair in the pipe while they smoke it in? Gross, but funny. Choosing the pipe must have been a nightmare, its set up like a claw game.
None of those boxes of tobacco exist any more. Most of the labels were impossible to read anyway, and the others must have been local brands.
That sink is interesting, they called it a hand basin. It had a hose and shower attachment. I would have loved to see a guy in a 3 piece suit bending over to get their head washed.
There are two odd squirrels and I think they are holding lanterns, which is weird. One is a dark one and the other light. Maybe it was a wedding gift.
