Very Cool & Original Art B & W & Color side by side Mike !

Artist's Description

Hand colored photo from 1942
Original title: Mr. Oscar J. Freeman, barber, owns the Metropolitan Barber Shop
Photographer: Jack Delano
Location: 4654 South Parkway, Chicago, IL

Simply because I didn't like how it looked, I repaired the crack in the mirror, it was too distracting and all my attention went there.

This is the first time I've seen that florescent lighting was used as the main light source. I gave it a weak white but flooded the area with it. I also removed the flash shadows.

There wasn't too much info about this shop, other than at the time it was created, he owned it for 14 years, and his name was Mr. Oscar J. Freeman. I thought it was interesting because many of these types of shots they didn't even bother getting the name of the place.

About Mike Savad

Mike Savad

My name is Mike Savad, I create one of a kind images. Photo realistic, is what people think of first. I specialize in job themes, such as Pharmacist, Doctor, Firemen, Lawyer, etc. Steampunk is another favorite. I'm certain you will find something that you will like. My art is inspired by Norman Rockwell and Paintings from the time of the Renaissance. Be sure to visit my Scene in Color section. I expertly restore and colorize black and white images. See the past come alive with color. Each image is painstakingly cleaned and repaired, colors are researched and shaded in. Images are designed to coordinate with the rest of my collection. The past was far more colorful than you would have imagined. Want something fun to do? Sometimes I hide...
