I couldn't find any postcards for this one, so I winged it basing it on paint chips from around 1890 or so. Other colors came from the buildings themselves as quite a few survived to present day. But the views of this island are limited to people that took sphere's of this location. But luckily someone did shoot from almost this spot.
There are post cards for the boats in the back however, and they were a boring white color.
The island is interesting, they outlawed cars back in the 1890's, so there is no real source of pollution or noise. Its quiet there, all you hear are horses and people on bikes. As a result the air and water are also quite clean, and look just like this. Aqua and blue the closer to the coast you get.
This scene is about how in these days the island was a fishery. Before that they traded in fur, and today they trade in fudge.
I am totally amazed they used that thing as a mooring spot. It has no base, I don't know even know how its still standing. The docks are stacked with wood and coal. The coal was for the big ships and I think they used that steam crane with shovels loaded with coal and wheel barrows. The wood I assume went to a stove in the boat.
