Description
The Monarch Butterfly is a bright orange color, and is an endangered species.
The name came from early settlers, as they were impressed by its colors. Coming from Holland or England, they named it "Monarch" after King William III, Prince of Orange, state holder of Holland, and later named King of England.
Another story involved the gold rim around the chrysalis, that reminded them of the kings crown, so therefore they named it Monarch.
