Description
Colorized photo from 1938 May
Original Title: Interior of rest stop for buses
Location: 298 S St Joe Dr, Park Hills, Missouri
The colors they use in Art Deco, I couldn't figure them out. They are very bold and bright, and a lot of them, the shape, the chrome, remind me of the 1950's (which is probably where they got it from).
The colors of this bus stop was a dark blue color, others had a turquoise theme. And that's what I chose for this, using the outside color on the back wall, and for snap, the aqua and red combo for the rest. The colors for clothes in that day were dull, there was no red, just maroon. Otherwise that flower dress would be red. I found that exact worlds fair poster, and they did do red on red.
The bus drivers clothes were based on one hat I found, which was a bit greenish. The old ladies dress was probably from 1930.
I made new stripes on the wall, I think they were chrome to start with, but that's hard to colorize. I also removed chairs on the bottom. There was a phantom head right behind the waiter, that might be the photographer, I removed him on the final version.
