Description
Colorized photo from 1902
Original title: Chemistry laboratory at Tuskegee Institute
Photographer: Frances Benjamin Johnston
Location: Tuskegee, Alabama
This is the laboratory of George Washington Carver, the peanut guy. He is the one on the right with the flower on his lapel.
As I was coloring this I was wondering why there were so many out of place bowels, jars and mismatched items. It was later on that I found out that they gave his department little money. And they class had to scrounge for parts.
They only referred to this room as a Chem lab at Tuskegee Institute, but it apparently has a much deeper history because it was his lab and not just some random class. Hard to see them as scientists though, no one is wearing a lab coat.
