Description
In the quiet stretch of winter forest, a mother owl and her young son nestled together on a thick branch under a dusting of fresh snow. It was their first Christmas without Papa Owl, who had flown to a place beyond the stars the previous spring. The little owl looked up with wide, wondering eyes, asking softly, "Will it feel like Christmas without him?"
Mama Owl wrapped a wing around her son, her feathers warm against the chill of the night. "Christmas feels like love," she whispered, "and love is always here with us." She brought out a small pine cone they had decorated together with tiny berries and bits of moss, hanging it from a branch nearby. They sat in quiet memory, watching the pine cone sway in the winter breeze, shimmering faintly in the moonlight.
Then, in a hushed voice, Mama Owl began to sing one of Papa's favorite carols, her voice soft and filled with love. The little owl joined in, their duet floating gently through the forest. Though it was a different Christmas, it was theirs, a warm circle of two, held together by love and memory, a beacon of light in the snowy, silent night.
