Colorized photo from 1941
Original Title: Amsterdam, New York
Location: 151 E Main St, Amsterdam, NY
The original scene was bright, dull and wet. I wanted it dark, shiny and evening. Because when I think fall, I think warm houses, lights on, and more inviting inside than outside.
The original scene featured the lady going to a car, and the church in the background. I wanted the eyes to be on the church first, the lady second, because then it would tell a story, she went to church now she's going home or vice versa.
I lit the windows of the church and a few other buildings, the lights on the street and added a few extra reflections on the ground. There is something about reflections that are neat.
I cloned that ugly sign out from above, it closed the photo in and was very distracting.
