Hand colored photo from 1908
Original title: New York, N.Y., Brooklyn Bridge
Photographer: Detroit Publishing
Location: Somewhere towards the end on the NY side.
The original image, which I cropped off, had a smooshed section that was so messed up, only sorcery could have fixed it. The date on this had a range of 1900 to 1910, I decided that this is 1908 because of a billboard on the right advertising the eighth annual car show. And according to my sources, this show started in 1900, and is still going on today. And I think its in October, as most of the signs seem to refer to that month.
That structure in front of us was the Bridge Railway, which carried elevated trains and streetcars in both directions. It opened in 1883, closed in 1904, due to capacity and safety issues. Today there isn't a trace of it.
My name is Mike Savad, I create one of a kind images. Photo realistic, is what people think of first. I specialize in job themes, such as Pharmacist, Doctor, Firemen, Lawyer, etc. Steampunk is another favorite. I'm certain you will find something that you will like. My art is inspired by Norman Rockwell and Paintings from the time of the Renaissance. Be sure to visit my Scene in Color section. I expertly restore and colorize black and white images. See the past come alive with color. Each image is painstakingly cleaned and repaired, colors are researched and shaded in. Images are designed to coordinate with the rest of my collection. The past was far more colorful than you would have imagined. Want something fun to do? Sometimes I hide...
