Welcome to Downieville Califorinia. This town was first established in 1849 during the California gold rush. To locals this location was known as "the forks" due to its location near the Downie river and North Fork. The town was named after its creator, Major William Downie. Around 1850, this small town had about 5000 people in it. Today, a little under 300. And there is enough ice cream for everyone.
