Artist's Description
Colorized photo from 1941, April
Original title: The new and the old in the apartment houses in the Negro section
Photographer: Russell Lee
Location: Chicago, IL
There was no information about this building, where it was located or anything. I tried to look up every address that the search allowed when I typed in the numbers. I found buildings that were close but didn't match. They may still be there, or not.
I think the building on the left was built in the 1890's, and the one on right was around 1920-1930. I don't know if that windows on the left is broken or if its a weird radio antennae or what.
There is a lady peaking from behind that sign, and there is a service for a Plummer on the sign. Who needs the silent letters anyway?
About Mike Savad
My name is Mike Savad, I create one of a kind images. Photo realistic, is what people think of first. I specialize in job themes, such as Pharmacist, Doctor, Firemen, Lawyer, etc. Steampunk is another favorite. I'm certain you will find something that you will like. My art is inspired by Norman Rockwell and Paintings from the time of the Renaissance. Be sure to visit my Scene in Color section. I expertly restore and colorize black and white images. See the past come alive with color. Each image is painstakingly cleaned and repaired, colors are researched and shaded in. Images are designed to coordinate with the rest of my collection. The past was far more colorful than you would have imagined. Want something fun to do? Sometimes I hide...
