Colorized photo from 1910
Original title: Madison Ave & Brevoort hotel
Photographer: Detroit Publishing
Location: 120 W Madison St between Clark & LaSalle, Chicago, IL
This is Madison St. in around 1910, on the left is the original location of the Brevoort hotel, and next to that is the LaSalle Opera house. It makes you wonder how thin the walls were, and how easily you could hear the singers.
You'll also note there are a few taxis on the left, in those days taxi colors weren't standardized, in this case these were either a greenish color or red. Yellow came out later because private people were driving people around. Around this year, the Yellowcab company was made in this town.
Like many of these old streets, these old buildings are gone, a few may have remained in the background, but a time traveler would be totally lost.
