This spot had three postcards, they more or less agreed on the color of the building, it was a tan color. There was enough data to give me a good idea of what to use in the scene.
Judging by the year, the lack of call boxes, I made the mailboxes red. They started as red from my understanding, and changed colors over the years because they confused people thinking they were call boxes, which were red.
This area was well maintained, the white wings were in the street cleaning things. It might have been because of that hotel, but you don't often see them outside of a cartoons and following a parade. I also liked that there was a person walking a dog, I've made quite a few of these images, and you almost never see people walking dogs.
I wasn't sure what color to make the road we were on. The color differs from the sidewalk, and yet I see faint stripes, I think it was dirt or just dirty.
This is the Victoria Hotel, built in 1878, originally called the Beaurivage. It was set up as a French Flat, basically they were luxury apartments. It burned down in 1882, then rebuilt in 1892. But it didn't have a long life, only lasting till 1908 before it was demolished.
