Description
Colorized photo from 1910
Original Title: Dearborn St Station
Location: South Plymouth Ct & Polk Street, Chicago Ill
This is the Dearborn station, it still exists in this very spot, minus the roof. Due to a fire in 1922, and the lack of decent carpenters, they flattened the roof and it looks more like a castle now. Currently this is an commercial space with different stores.
The date of this picture is in question, the photo claims to be from 1910, but that car in front is a 1911 Warren-Detroit Touring Torpedo. The company doesn't exist, cars don't seem to exist, I found one single add showing this car, it was either cream or yellow.
The racist billboard on the right was for Gold Dust soap, I couldn't find the exact match (seems billboards and plain ads differ). I do know he has another brother, and there is another sign below it.
There is a bus from the Frank Parmelee system on the right, they still are in service.
They did the best they could to remove that ghost on the left by the car, they cropped the car out totally when they made the postcard.
