This is a very popular image, showing the nightmares of traffic in old Chicago. The downside to this photo was, it was staged, it was a demonstration to show what happens when there are no cops to direct traffic. The town had the cops sit back for, what they said, was 5 minutes, but to me it looks to be at least 20 minutes.
It created an attraction that everyone had to check out. What made me suspicious was how many street cars were piled up, and that 20 or more people were staring back at the camera. Which tells me that they knew he was there, or he made it obvious he was there. Often you will get one looker. That one guy or gal that see's you and stares, breaking the 4th wall if you will. This one had a lot more looking.
Cunard Lines, were in business for 5 years prior to this photo, they are still around today.
The colors for the most part came from a postcard that came from this scene. A very well done, very detailed item that showed all the colors. Now I take colors with a grain of salt and often choose my own anyway. They really favored red, orange and yellow, and while that scene could have had those colors, the chances aren't likely. But I tried to stay true to form and kept most of their colors. It made it easier than looking them up.
