This is Eden Park, but before it was a park, it was land that belonged to Nicholas Longworth, a prominent landowner, and later on, wine maker. He originally used this land for growing grapes. As the land was stripped of trees for house construction, the bare hillsides were used to grow grapes, as they were hard to build on. The vineyard was called "The Garden of Eden" and though he tried to sell this land later on in the 1840's, the city didn't need it until 1869, and then turned much of it into a reservoir and park. They also kept the Eden name.
This particular spot of the park is called "the twin lakes", even though they look nothing like each other. However before it was a pretty park, it was a limestone quarry, which they used to build parts of the town and the walls for the reservoir. I can only assume they left la...
