Original Title: Welcome Arch and Union Depot
Location: 1586 17th St, Denver, Co
The arch at the end of this street was originally called the Welcome Arch. Built in 1906, it was used to welcome new comers to Denver, as they came in by train, which at the time was really the only way to get here.
However it said Welcome on both sides, meaning they welcomed people as they left the city. It was later changed to the word Mizpah, a Jewish word that means " Expressing the emotional bond between people who are separated". And at that point this arch was referred to as the Mizpah Arch
As the city grew, cars became more popular and this arch was now in the way, it became a safety hazard. In 1931, the arch was rusty and worn out, and was torn down.
