You can't see it in the original, but I cut off a huge chunk of sky that added nothing and only made it look smaller. Now it looks more like a panorama.
This is Capus Martius, in Detroit, Michigan, it looks a lot different here than it does now. They moved the statue over, I think to make the road narrower, as this looks really wide now.
This had a wide date range of 1900-1920. Looking up the buildings, I found a real old theater that is still standing on Monroe street, it opened in 1911. The arch was put up in 1910, so I'm guessing its around the Spring of 1910.
I used postcards and educational guesses for the colors, though the Wayne courthouse building in the background is currently standing still. I found one reference to that particular streetcar, which was green. The others are yellow with a red stripe.
My name is Mike Savad, I create one of a kind images. Photo realistic, is what people think of first. I specialize in job themes, such as Pharmacist, Doctor, Firemen, Lawyer, etc. Steampunk is another favorite. I'm certain you will find something that you will like. My art is inspired by Norman Rockwell and Paintings from the time of the Renaissance. Be sure to visit my Scene in Color section. I expertly restore and colorize black and white images. See the past come alive with color. Each image is painstakingly cleaned and repaired, colors are researched and shaded in. Images are designed to coordinate with the rest of my collection. The past was far more colorful than you would have imagined. Want something fun to do? Sometimes I hide...
