I've always loved old architecture like this, the Victorian's really had style compared to now. This area has an almost fantasy like look to it. The buildings for the most part will built around 1870. The one in the middle, the Vaughan's Diamond Building, was designed to fit a weird triangle shaped piece of land, it sat in between a few roads. Many of these buildings were replaced in the 1920's, and today this location is, void of interest. I believe a statue now sits where that center building is. And that's flanked by large buildings or parking garages.
The original picture had a lot of haze in it, more than usual. I can't tell if it was just hazy or its just how their film worked. There were enough postcards of this area to get an idea of what it looked like. However older images showed that the middle building was white.
Check out the far left building in the back. There is an interesting architectural detail that is holding up a flag. It's quite decorative.
