If pictures were scented... Use your mind's nose and take a sniff... All those meats and cheeses, you can smell it, that rich aroma of nutty cheeses, smoked meats, peppery scents, all mixed together into one scent, the scent of Italy.
This however is Little Italy, a small shop located on Mulberry St, owned by the Ronga brothers. It was a grocery store for a spell, they sold cheese and meats obviously. Along with baby food, flour, mops, and all the Roma based tomato products you can carry. I'd say this store is 40% tomato cans in some variation and in every brand.
The original scene had about 3 well placed lamps mostly hidden by the stuff hanging, you can see the light and some of the cords. It gave the photo depth and life but also crazy shadows as the highlights came from all directions. On average I can find around half of the items as a match or a close enough match, some of these names I couldn't find. It seems that people didn't keep all their trash to show them in the future. I think they are close enough, most of the cans in the 1940's, usually had a light yellow background for some reason. I was able to find most of that collection sign, and I think I matched the cheeses up well enough.
The scale on the left only goes up to 2 lbs, I guess he had a lot of smaller orders, I guess it was easier to read though.
