A rather popular place for the guys, this block has nothing but hardware and liquor stores on it (with the exception of that one seed store). I can't image why there would be so many, I suppose they needed more because their carriages needed more work? It's hard to know. Parking must have been tricky back then, backing in a horse must take a bit of skill, and rainy days must have been messy.
This location was the original spot where the Confederate Monument stood. If your familiar with this pillar, there is usually a statue on it. This monument was just finished right about this time. In the present day a very tall bank sits in the place of all these buildings. And that monument was moved a bit over.
