Original Title: Macy's New York
Location: 151 West 34th St.
This is Macy's Department store, it was the largest store in its time, and its still quite large even today (much larger than this structure in this image). The store was dedicated in selling items at an affordable price to anyone.
This building was built in 1902, at the time RH Macy had a smaller store, elsewhere in New York. When he bought this land, he agreed using a verbal agreement. At the same time another business man, Seigal Cooper, a competitor) was making a bid for a part of the land, that corner property.
Some how he was able to get that corner plot, and told Macy that he would give him that spot, if he gave him the old location of the original store. Macy said, nope, and built his store around that corner. And later on Cooper put up a building of his own, the one that stands there today. Macy did rent billboard space, and covered it up in signs.

My name is Mike Savad, I create one of a kind images. Photo realistic, is what people think of first. I specialize in job themes, such as Pharmacist, Doctor, Firemen, Lawyer, etc. Steampunk is another favorite. I'm certain you will find something that you will like. My art is inspired by Norman Rockwell and Paintings from the time of the Renaissance. Be sure to visit my Scene in Color section. I expertly restore and colorize black and white images. See the past come alive with color. Each image is painstakingly cleaned and repaired, colors are researched and shaded in. Images are designed to coordinate with the rest of my collection. The past was far more colorful than you would have imagined. Want something fun to do? Sometimes I hide...
