Going to the dentist is never fun, especially when you're a kid.
It all starts with a toothache. The dentist assures everyone, No problem, I can fix it! Then comes the chair. The child sits down, nervous but hopeful, while the dentist pulls out... pliers. Yes, pliers.
With a firm grip, the dentist gently, but decisively, places one hand on the child's face. It's a multitasking move: the hand serves as a fulcrum, a stabilizer, and, let's be honest, a scream muffler. Then, with one swift tug, yank! Out comes the tooth.
It's over before the kid knows what hit them. The reward? A lollipop (because nothing says "dental care" like pure sugar) and a tissue to dab away any lingering trauma.
And just like that, the cycle begins again.
Color notes:
With the advent of AI, everyone thinks everything is AI. It's the fingers usually, its a dead give away that something may be amiss. But this one had the wrong amount of fingers because one is probably in her mouth.
I chose this mostly because it had a Rockwell look, the 1940 retro look, a bit of comedy, by the way that guy is gripping her face like that. Or her hands in well a terror and pain position. I kind of feel for the kids, but I'm glad I'm on this side of the screen.
I chose pastels for the doctor half and darker colors for mom and kid. Rockwell had tones like that, I wanted them to stand out well. I couldn't find the floor colors exactly, but they had many hideous examples of what floors looked like then. The chair is from the 1900's and it folds up and gets higher, its being used exactly as intended, a portable folding dental chair. I found those exact posters, the one on the right was in book form however.
I'm curious why there are two pails. One for spit, one for teeth? Or is that a tip pail?
I was able to find the eat your foods posters (they still sell it), and segments of the dental poster, it was from the world's fair. i chose pastels for the nurse and doctor and wanted the solid colors for the parent
