Have you ever wondered why these old Victorian offices were so fancy looking?
Victorian dentists offices were often elaborately decorated, designed to create a sense of calm and luxury in an era when dental visits were feared. The ornate furnishings, rich fabrics, and intricate woodwork aimed to ease patients' anxiety, making the experience feel less clinical and more like a visit to a parlor. Dental practices catered to the rising middle class, and a lavish office projected professionalism and trustworthiness. Additionally, dentists often operated in high-end locations, blending medical practice with the refinement expected in Victorian society. The design emphasized comfort in a period when dental care was often painful.
Color notes
This image was originally shot to showcase the architecture of the building, which was built in 1898, they razed it in 1957. So there isn't any actual information about this dental office, other than it looks really nice. And you can have your teeth fixed, as the drill is electric, and as long as the sun is shining, the dentist will be able to see what they are doing. I'm not sure what that device is on the floor, doesn't seem clear.
Now the image itself, had some flaws. The carpet in the lower left corner had a chunk of another carpet? So I removed that. As interesting as the electric cords are, I removed the unplugged one on the right. There were a bunch of splotchy areas on the floor, a long with many scratches.
