This is a room in a hospital, yet the walls are unfinished. Wallboard was invented in 1913, so I guess they haven't figured out yet how to either stagger the joints or use joint compound and tape, the nails aren't even set. I'm only guessing that wallboard was this color in those days, I did look, I couldn't confirm the actual color.
I still wonder what is in that bowl, its a dark color that is for certain. And I doubt its blood. I can only assume its potty water. I do have to say that those bed pans are wondrous, so large, it can hold so much volume. Not like today's that are small and flexible.
It's curious that a room with that many pans would have no screens and a huge window. One would assume there should be some privacy when doing such things. Especially during an eye test. I suppose if you can see the people on the street staring at you while you pee in front of them - then you pass that test.
If you are wondering, the chart is backwards because you do the test looking in a mirror. It's how they do it today too.
