Description
Why is the Dalmatian associated with firefighters? Mostly they stand out against the equipment. These dogs did have a purpose though, they were found that they could calm a horse down when the scene became chaotic, the horses pulled the equipment, calm horses were a good thing. They helped deter theft and vandalism by keeping an eye over everything.
They also would run ahead of the fire engine to clear a path and get people to move out of the way. They are naturally agile and have a lot of speed.
