Description
Colorized photo from 1917
Original title: Mary Creed selling bakery goods
Photographer: Lewis Wickes Hine
Location: 817 Harison St, Boston, MA
The image as made by Lewis Wickes Hine, who had a project to photograph children in the workplace, which later on became the child labor laws we all love today.
But this girl is 14 years old, this is still a typical after school job, so I don't quite get why she was photographed at all, unless the photographer wanted a slice of cake. Maybe she skipped school to work here.
Anyway the picture has a lot of stress in it. The left half was so damaged, I was afraid I wouldn't be able to extract detail from it. But I was able to, its not the most detail ever, but you can read packages.
I can't quite make out what the cabinet says. Whatever it is, it probably doesn't exist online. Almost everything in this scene, except for a few teas, don't exist at all. I think they were all local brands or tasted terrible, because people save everything. And I couldn't find anything. Except that cracker box, that was easy to find.
