Colorized photo from 1939
Original Title: Negro grocery store
Photographer: Wolcott Marion Post
Location: 802 West Gwinnett Street, Savannah, GA
There wasn't a lot to go on, considering all they called this shot: Negro grocery. Which has a derogatory connotation, but I still think its cute. Pretty sure the photographer didn't shop here. There wasn't any information about the store itself, other than an overpass is more or less on top of this address. And that she got the name of the town wrong, calling it Sylvania, when the street and that circus poster both suggest its Savannah.
The bike is a 1935 Wards Hawthorne, or at least that's what it looked like. The bike came in burgundy, but later models do show it as a brighter color, so I went with that. Using a dark color the bike would have blended in.
