Description
Being a pumpkin is hard. All summer long you soak in the warm light, eating food heartedly, getting fat, round and plump. Unlike a turkey, where you simply murder for everyone's enjoyment. Being a pumpkin often means being cut into, using a sharp knife, your guts are scooped out and tossed in front of your via a vivisection demonstration. Unusual carvings are put on your side. Then you sit, sometimes with fire inside, while children all laugh at your plight. And to make it even worse, sometimes it's so cold that snow just falls on your head like a little hat. Siting on those stairs gives you time to contemplate your existence and how you long to be still be in that summery patch.
