Description
If you live on a homestead, or you just want to know what is in the food you eat, it may be a good idea to make your own ingredients. Picking herbs from your own garden to make a flavored oil or vinegar is simply the best.
Growing those little gherkins just so they can fit in that little bottle, or even just choosing all those bottles. There are downsides though, the cork. Because if you don't remove the cork just right, it breaks in the middle, leaving it in a place you can't get to. You have the choice of either pushing it in all the way, where you will never ever remove it. Or break it up and hope it doesn't fall in. But of course it falls in now that's its smaller than the diameter of the neck of the jar.
So what do you do now? You try to remove it by tilting the jar towards you, but that only makes the cork float to the back of the jar. The neck is too small to get something in there. So you decide its best to just pour the contents out into a bowl. Spending hours picking out cork bits, then putting it all back. But of course it doesn't go back, the contents were rigid when you put them in there. Now they are mushy, and impossible to get in without it looking like you took lawn clippings and just added it in there. And in the end you have to start all over, and hope it doesn't repeat itself. Always wondering if it would have been better just to go out to the store and buy something with a screw lid instead.
Anyway, homemade ingredients are the best.
