Congratulations Mike! Your astonishing image represents the spirit of the group Electronics And Mechanics that I want to convey! There is a thank you thread on the discussions tab if you would like to archive it there.

Artist's Description

Colorized photo from 1917
Original title: Big gun section
Photographer: Harris & Ewing
Location: Washington Navy Yard

This is the big gun section of the Washington Navy Yard, they were responsible for making guns and weapons in general. Each department specialized in making some part of a weapon. One section made shells, while another made torpedo tubes.

This department made big guns, presumably for big-gun battleships. You can see its a fairly modern workshop, as each lathe has its own motor. I think its interesting how loose a belt can be, check out that big wheel, it has a belt flapping around. Makes you wonder if it took a person's hat off, it would explain some of their hair lines.

About Mike Savad

Mike Savad

My name is Mike Savad, I create one of a kind images. Photo realistic, is what people think of first. I specialize in job themes, such as Pharmacist, Doctor, Firemen, Lawyer, etc. Steampunk is another favorite. I'm certain you will find something that you will like. My art is inspired by Norman Rockwell and Paintings from the time of the Renaissance. Be sure to visit my Scene in Color section. I expertly restore and colorize black and white images. See the past come alive with color. Each image is painstakingly cleaned and repaired, colors are researched and shaded in. Images are designed to coordinate with the rest of my collection. The past was far more colorful than you would have imagined. Want something fun to do? Sometimes I hide...
