I know its an old photo, but whoever processed the negative destroyed a lot of the highlights in this. I did find a negative, but it was so small and compressed, that I could only use for the smallest amount of shading. I was able to get some of the jacket back in that old guy and his friend. The rest was too blocky to be of any use.
I chose mostly green for the machines, except for one where I chose black, but left a lot of pinstripe detail.
I'm not a 100% certain what they did here, but it was a part of the Union Pacific Transcontinental railroad, so they probably fixed locomotives or something.
What I really liked about this was the attention to detail in the carpentry. If you look closely at the beams, even the one on the floor there are fancy scarf joints. A scarf joint is a, sometimes, complex cut joint that is matched on both ends. The wood is locked together that way. The beams on the ceiling have a locked compression fitting on it, you can see them where those long bolts attach. The ceiling has a really long span for those days, there are columns, but the rest relies on fine carpentry work.
