Often you don't see those chip shields in a factory space, or maybe its just that I've never seen it from this point of view. They were fancy though, lined with pipe with little decorative end caps. Some of the motors on the lathes had painted stripes on it, the one in the front looks like it was updated as it didn't match the others.
This factory, Delahaye automobiles, located in Paris France, used to make really fancy looking cars. Cars I never seen in pictures, on the streets, or even museums. They almost looked like concept cars. So when they came up with an early tank design, it looked like a child made it. A narrow frame, with 4 triangular wheels, each with its own tread. On top a small gun turret, I assume manned by a single person, painted silver.
I couldn't tell if it ever left the prototype stage or not, as I couldn't find any live examples of them making it. Nor are there any photos of them online beyond a few photos. Near as I can tell, this factory only made shells. Hiring only women and old men, as the younger ones were fighting.
There was very little lighting, at first I couldn't even find the lamps, but there are a few. Mostly its a large skylight. So be careful on days with clouds. This is the first time I've seen perforated belts, I do wonder if they were a hybrid of some kind. The company closed in 1954, the building torn down, just an historic marker points to what was there.
