Capriola Saddlery was founded in 1929 by Joe Martin Capriola and has been a cornerstone of traditional Western craftsmanship ever since. Skilled artisans meticulously craft each saddle using time-honored techniques, shaping, stitching, and assembling leather components with hand tools such as awls, needles, and mallets.
The company's history is deeply connected to G.S. Garcia, a renowned saddle maker who moved to Elko in 1896 and helped establish the region's reputation for superior saddle craftsmanship. After Garcia's passing in 1933, Capriola carried on this legacy, and in 1940, he and his son, Joe Edward, became business partners, further cementing the brand's dedication to quality.
For over 95 years, J.M. Capriola Co. has remained a leader in the Western leather goods industry. While embracing modern advancements, the company has steadfastly preserved its traditional craftsmanship, ensuring that every saddle reflects the heritage, artistry, and quality that define the Capriola name.
