Artist's Description

Gear-based watches, also known as mechanical watches, operate using a fascinating system of gears. These gears work together to accurately measure the passage of time, making them more than just ordinary timepieces.

Inside these watches, there is a mainspring that stores energy. As this spring slowly unwinds, it releases the stored energy, setting the gears in motion. These gears then transfer the energy to an important component called the escapement.

The escapement is like a control center for the watch. It regulates the release of energy from the mainspring in a steady and controlled manner. By doing so, it ensures that the watch keeps accurate time.

Another vital part of the watch is the balance wheel. This wheel swings back and forth, driven by the energy from the mainspring. The escapement helps the balance wheel maintain a precise rhythm, ensuring accurate timekeeping.
