Description
There are some people that want total control over how their music is played. The problem listening to an orchestra is, that no matter much they are trained, the breath of a musician, is different from person to person. And for an audiophile, this may drive them crazy when the song doesn't play out the way they think it should.
That's why this invention was created, its at least a 100 years old, made up of instruments that no one uses any more. It was a complex machine, it had to be wall mounted, and built into place, and maintaining it was a real chore. In another room you needed a boiler to create steam which was then pumped into this room, and some of it was stored in that tank you see there, to act as a sort of buffer, so when the music played, there would be no lag time.
You would still need players though, usually around 3 to 4 people would have to play the notes. The instruments were attached and could not move, and they were spaced apart so you needed a few people to operate it.
In the right hands it sounded amazing. Instruments running on steam had a unique sound, heavenly some called it. But it had drawbacks, its not like it was a machine you could just play any time, but mostly it was the steam. Steam is hot, and it would blow out of the holes scalding people randomly. And the condensation made a huge mess as well.
Luckily only a few were made, they say that a crazy person was the one who originally created it. And he went mad after he was done with the first one.
