Colorized photo from 1933 Aug 23rd
Original Title: Train Accident
Location: Anacostia Railroad bridge, Washington DC
This is the Crescent Limited, its green because all the brochures I found of it, were green. But they showed the train being a Southern Crescent Limited, which I assume is the same thing as this train. But its hard to tell, because when they describe an accident, they don't say what the color was, all reports I read though said it was Virginia green. Models showed from lime to grass green.
Anyway this accident had to do with an old bridge that was compromised at the base from a hurricane. The bridge collapsed when this speeding train went over it. Sending the whole thing into the water. Two people died, mostly the people running the train, and 20 turkey's that someone was transporting for some reason.
the lighting seemed to be overcast with maybe light coming from the right. But it was faint, and I was pretty sure I could get away with making it into a dusk shot. It adds drama to the scene, gives it an end of days look.
